MicroLaserPeel™

What is the MicroLaserPeel™?
MicroLaserPeel is a minimal-to-full epidermal laser peel that precisely removes the outermost layers of the skin.  The procedure is individually tailored to the nature of the condition to be corrected.

The Benefits of the MicroLaserPeel
The MicroLaserPeel is appropriate for adults and most teenagers and for most skin types.  The person looking for more immediate results than those offered by microdermabrasion or light chemical peels with little time for a prolonged healing process which is common with the CO2 laser treatment or deep chemical peels.  The following skin conditions have been successfully treated with the MicroLaserPeel:

  • wrinkles
  • laxity
  • scars
  • acne scars
  • keratoses
  • pigmentation problems.
  • enlarged pores

What results can I expect? Smoother, healthier and more vibrant skin.  You will notice a significant and immediate change in skin texture, appearance and tightness.

MicroLaserPeel - What to Expect
A topical anesthetic is applied 30 - 45 minutes before the procedure. It is removed immediately before the procedure begins.  As the laser is discharged, there is a loud popping noise and most patients say that they feel heat.  The level of discomfort is generally comparable to a bad sunburn.

How is the MicroLaserPeel different from Microdermabrasion?
Generally, microdermabrasion only removes the outer layer (stratum corneum, 10-15 microns) of the skin. The MicroLaserPeel is a partial to full epidermal peel (20-120 microns). Because the procedure penetrates deeper into the epidermis, it is the perfect step between microdermabrasion and deeper peels.  For this reason, it does require the use of a topical anesthetic.

How often can the MicroLaserPeel be done?
Typically the procedure is repeated 2-4 times, spaced about 6 weeks apart, but additional procedures may be performed to achieve desired results.

What type of anesthesic is used?
A topical anesthetic is applied 30 - 45 minutes before the procedure and is removed immediately before the procedure begins.  No sedation is required.

Do I have to wear any kind of bandage or dressing after the procedure?
No!  You will be given an ointment like CU3 Intensive Tissue Repair Creme.  This is used for one to two days as a barrier to keep the air away from the skin while new epithelium grows.  A light moisturizer will be needed after that

How long is the healing process?
The healing process varies from patient to patient but will generally take three to seven days.  The procedure is usually performed on a Friday so that patients have the weekend to “heal.”  The face is washed several times a day until the peeling process is complete. Patients should be ready to return to work or normal social activities by the end of the following week.  Immediately following the procedure patients feel as if they have a bad sunburn.  Patients experience minor sloughing and itchiness.   Redness gradually fades and can be easily covered by makeup once the peeling process is complete.
