Facelift or Rhytidectomy Surgery
Would I Benefit from Facelift Surgery?
Simply stated, if you look into the mirror and don't like what you see because of any or all of the conditions mentioned below, then you could be a good candidate for Dr. Kaplan's Facelift Surgery:
- You feel like your face has fallen
- You don't like those jowls, wrinkles, and folds
- Your jawline has lost its youthful contour
- You have developed face and neck wrinkles
- You have developed a "wattle" under your chin
- You look tired and worn out
What is a Facelift?
A Facelift is a surgical procedure that addresses the loss of skin elasticity and muscle tone in the lower third of the face and neck. Age- and lifestyle-related changes cause wrinkles, grooves, furrows, and deep creases. The chin and neck lose their contoured, youthful shape. To restore a more refreshed, youngerl appearance, Dr. Kaplan's Facelift surgery is often performed in combination with a Necklift - a procedure that can correct sagging muscles that often form as we age. Submental Liposuction and/or Submental Repair are also often performed in conjunction with a facelift.
Dr. Kaplan understands the individual needs of each patient and knows that one look does not fit all. He has performed thousands of Facelift and Necklift surgeries using his safe, effective and reliable techniques and procedures. His unique surgical techniques produce outcomes that restore harmony, balance and a natural look - never a too-tight, pulled, or taut look.
What Dr. Kaplan's Facelift Surgery Accomplishes:
A Facelift can improve the contour of your lower jaw and jowls while tightening the skin to give you a more youthful appearance. It can also repair some of the damage caused by the sun, stress, gravity, and poor lifestyle habits. A facelift cannot stop the natural aging process.
Dr. Kaplan's Facelift Surgery Procedure:
- You will be prepped, made totally comfortable, and anesthesia will be administered.
- Dr. Kaplan will make tiny incisions in front of and behind the ears and into the scalp line.
- The muscles and deep tissue are then tightened and the fat is sculpted to restore a more rested, youthful contour to the face and neck.
- Excess skin is removed to treat the creases and folds that distort the natural lines of your face. Dr. Kaplan has performed thousands of these surgeries and will skillfully create the look that is right for you - a natural, more youthful one, not one that is taut or over-corrected.
- Your surgery will take 1-2 hours and will be performed in our (in-office) state-of-the-art AAAHC certified surgery center.
Anesthesia
Dr. Kaplan generally performs Facelift Surgery using MAC (monitored anesthesia care) although some patients prefer IV Sedation for anesthesia. All surgery is performed on an outpatient basis in our state-of-the-art AAAHC certified operating room suite, complete with all of the required monitoring, delivery and emergency equipment. Dr. Kaplan makes every effort to ensure your complete safety and comfort during surgery. If you are having MAC, it will be administered by a board-certified anesthesiologist who is present throughout the entire operation as (s)he administers and monitors the anesthesia. Anesthesia will be discussed during your pre-operative appointment.
After Your Facelift Surgery:
- Swelling and bruising is normal and subsides gradually over several days.
- Any discomfort is easily managed with oral medication.
- Internal sutures will dissolve.
- Your results will be visible within a few weeks as swelling subsides completely.
Many patients choose to have additional surgical procedures at the same time (for example, a browlift and/or blepharoplasty) to ensure the most satisfying, optimal result. Injectable Filler treatments are often included in the post operative treatment plan.
